A TopstepX trade copier for funded futures accounts

Make one trade and Copymoar copies it to every TopstepX account you own — the entry, stop-loss, take-profit and partial exits, in real time. You connect with your username and an API key, so the account reconnects on its own and never needs a browser again.

FUTURES ONLY · API-KEY CONNECT · DAILY LIMIT ENFORCED BY THE BROKER

A trade copier is one app that watches the account you trade — your leader — and instantly places the same trades on your other accounts, the followers. Copymoar does this for TopstepX accounts, so a single trade fans out to every account you run.

TopstepX and "Topstep trade copier" are the same thing now. TopstepX is Topstep's own trading platform, built on the ProjectX technology. In February 2026, ProjectX ended third-party prop-firm support and became exclusive to Topstep — so if you traded a ProjectX-based platform before, that platform is TopstepX today. Older guides describing ProjectX across many firms are simply out of date. Copymoar connects to it the current way: username and API key.

Connecting TopstepX to Copymoar

There's no browser sign-in and no password to store — an API key does the work:

  1. Create an API key

In your TopstepX account settings, generate an API key. The key lets Copymoar mint fresh session tokens with no browser, so the account never shows a login window again.

  2. Add your account

Open Accounts → Add account and pick ProjectX / TopstepX. Mark it as your leader or a follower. Evals and funded accounts connect as Demo; Live is a personal brokerage account.

  3. Enter your username and API key

Type your TopstepX username and paste the key. Copymoar verifies and connects. The key is stored encrypted on your device only — never sent to our servers.

  4. Build a group and go live

If the login owns several accounts, pick which become rows. Create a group, choose your leader, tick the followers with their sizing, and turn it Active.

Your daily-loss limit, enforced by the broker

This is the part that matters most on a funded account. On TopstepX, Copymoar can hand your daily-loss limit to the broker itself — so it's enforced even if your computer dies, your internet drops, or the app is closed. That's a real difference from a copier that can only watch your account while its own software is open.

By default, Copymoar's own risk manager watches every account and, on a breach, halts copying and flattens that account — but that protection only runs while the app runs. Pushing the limit to the broker removes that dependency for the daily loss cap.

There's also an optional broker-side lockout. You can choose to hand the broker a hard lock for a set period — a discipline tool against revenge trading. It's a real commitment: turning it on flattens open positions, and it can't be lifted early. Leave it off (the default) and nothing is locked. Copymoar never enables it for you.

Trading on the TopstepX site while copying

Copymoar keeps its own live connection to your account. If you sign into the TopstepX website on the same login the app is copying, that briefly interrupts the app's feed — it reconnects automatically, but a trade placed in exactly that moment can be missed. Best practice:

  • Don't keep the site open on a login the app is copying.
  • To watch charts or trade manually on the site, use a login the app isn't copying — or just trade your leader through the app.

How much of each trade copies

You choose how the crew copies the leader, per group:

Recommended for a small crew

Copy my stops & targets

Your stop and target rest safely at the broker and move when you move yours. Best with one to three followers.

Broker-friendly

Protective bracket, broker-friendly

A stop and target still rest at the broker, tuned to stay light when several accounts share one login.

Simplest & lightest

Just follow entries & exits

Followers get in and out at market with you. Nothing rests at the broker in between.

Copymoar also enforces the funded-account basics on every account: it never holds a buy and a sell on the same market at once, and a copy can only ever reduce a position, never flip it or pile on more against you.

A note on your firm's rules

Copy trading rules differ by firm and by account stage, and they change. Copymoar is the software that does the copying — whether copy trading is allowed on your specific account is on you to confirm with your firm. We keep a plain-language summary of what each firm publishes on the prop-firm rules page, with sources and dates, but always check your own account's current terms.

TopstepX trade copier FAQ

Is TopstepX the same as ProjectX?+

In practice, yes. ProjectX ended third-party prop-firm support in February 2026 and became exclusive to Topstep, so the ProjectX platform now runs as TopstepX. Copymoar connects to it with your username and API key.

Do I have to reconnect or log in again?+

No. The API key mints fresh session tokens on its own, so the account reconnects forever without a browser or a login window — even after the app restarts.

Do my risk limits survive my computer shutting down?+

On TopstepX you can hand your daily-loss limit to the broker itself, so it stays enforced even if your machine dies. Otherwise the app enforces limits while it's running. A hosted plan (Pro+ or Elite) keeps the app copying and guarding 24/7.

Can I keep the TopstepX website open while copying?+

Not on the same login. Signing into the site on a login the app is copying briefly interrupts its feed — it reconnects, but a trade placed in that moment can be missed. Use a different login for manual charts, or trade through the app.

Does it work on a Mac?+

Yes — Copymoar is a native macOS app as well as Windows. See the Mac trade copier page. TopstepX connects with an API key the same way on both.
